Okay, so today was the first day of school. Let's get this clear: It is a very, very bad idea to become sick the night before your first day of school.  It makes it so much harder to get through.
But otherwise, school rocked. it's gonna be a fucking fun year!

I know, I've been AWOL for quite some time now. I've been busy, work, schoolwork, getting ready for school....but also, I've been thinking, and too afraid to write any of it down. Here it is: I want to make some major changes in my life. Not so major to some people, but to me, it's important. I want to lose weight and get in shape, I want to eat right and feel right. I want to be able to live to 70 without any major health problems - something my Aunt Lisa can't do. She has a rare form of cancer and has 6 months to 2 years to live. I want to be more spiritual, more in tune with myself and with others. Not religious, but spiritual. I want more patience and motivation.

All of this I'm determined to get. I know I can do it.

Also, many thanks to stillandstorm for writing such a nice comment on my last journal entry. <3 She went around telling everyone how much she appreciates us all.

I love you all. :)

On a less somber note, here's Demi Lovato for you. Nikki tagged me, and I must say, she's not as bad as I thought. Comment me and I'll give you a person.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - 1937.

Snow White and I have an interesting connection - when I was short and tiny I looked almost exactly like the character - people even came up to me in Disney and randomly said it. Though I may not look much like her now, I still love the movie. But I could never be Snow White - I cannot, for my life, pronounce the word "Dwarf" correctly, as my mom so often loves to remind me. It comes out as "Dorf." It's really surprising how easily one can forget things. I forgot nearly all of the movie I haven't watched it in so long. The same with Pinnocchio - and I believe nearly the rest of the Disney movies. What's even worse is that Barbara's memory is worse than mine - so I'm very glad I'm doing this.

Some Snow White Fun Facts:

-- The film premiered on December 21st 1937 and was finally released generally in theaters on February 8th 1938. It was the first animated feature to become widely successful within the English-speaking world and the first to be filmed in Technicolor.

-- Did you know that only moments before the film's completion, Walt thought Snow White was too pale? Inkers and painters added blush to her cheeks in tens of thousands of drawings.

--
Before coming up with with the names of the dwarfs, there were other ideas such as Awful, Biggy, Blabby, Dirty, Gabby, Gaspy, Gloomy, Hoppy, Hotsy, Jaunty, Jumpy, Nifty, and Shifty.

----

Pinnocchio - 1940.

What's probably the best part of this movie lies in Jiminy Cricket. I actually have a keychain of his and he has to be my favourite character, with his hopping about whistling, and singing. The second thing that makes this movie worth seeing is the song - "When you wish upon a star." It's one of my favourites of all time.

Hidden Mickeys!

In Pinocchio, there is a terrific hidden Mickey... The scene where Geppeto is racing to put out Pinocchio's finger in Cleo's bowl... Slow it down and take a look at the chair in the foreground. The top of the chair is a perfect Mickey.

In exactly 123 days, I will be at Walt Disney World. Well, I'll probably be on a plane, but my mind will be there. For the record, that's December 18th. Going to Disney World is a large part of my family, and our traditions tend to revolve around it. Once over 20 people from my family went as a Christmas vacation. It was amazing - I was very little but we all got to stay in Shades of Green - special resort reserved for members of the army, navy, etc. My grandpa was a sailor, so he got us in.

I haven't been to Disney since 2000. My sister was three, I was five. I have many memories of Disney, but I miss it so much - more than anything but Italy. This time, our neighbors offered us a nearly-free trip because they've been so much. (We're really close to them - Alex is like a brother to me, and he's two years younger than I, two years older than Barbara.) Therefore, since we've started to go off the Disney track, my sister has very little memories of all the classic movies, characters, and rides.

To enhance our experience, I have compiled a chronological list of the Walt Disney Animated Features that we own to help my sister, myself, and my family and friends get the most out of our Disney experience this December. It is our mighty quest to watch these all before December 18th, 2009.

Welcome, all, to the 2009 Disney Extravaganza!

If you were to open your own theme restaurant, what would the theme be and how would you express it to the customers?
This is partially based off of one of my favourite restaurants, but it would be a mix between a Broadway-theme and a classic American theme. There would be road maps, movie posters, antique things to represent old-time America (I'm thinking between 10s and 40s). Classy, with American food, and a whole lot of style.

That sounds exciting. Haha.

I get to visit my grandma today and get fitted for my blasted white gown. GAH to the second.
Story's going well.

Cheers!

I am officially on a writing frenzy. What, you ask, does a self-induced writing-frenzy include? Try this: no caffeine, but very little sleep, lots of tissues, sudoku, staying up late, and having fun posting random journals on dA. Oh, and in that, about 10,000 words and three poems, plus some prose.

Exciting, isn't it?

Anyway, here's today's exciting dose of news:

2 months, 16 days until NaNoWriMo 2009!!!

You excited?

Firstly, I have to fall on my knees and thank an amazing person. stillandstorm made this amazingly awesome wonderful perfect layout for me. And I've fallen in love. <3 Thanks for this, Nik. I love it. Loads and loads and loads and I owe you. =)
To everyone else reading this: check out her lj. She's pretty cool.

Alright. On to the other stuff. I have so much to do before school I'm in over my head. Here's the lovely list:
The Growing To-Do List of DOOM!
1. Draw 12 pictures. (One is finished, but it's 3x3 pictures, so it's not that bad.)
2. Finish Jane Eyre.
3. Start Good Behaviour.
4. Figure out how to do those remaining two math problems. Gah, math. I hate it. It hates me. That's the only thing we agree on.
5. Write.

So before Sunday morning I want to have Jane Eyre finished, and a few things written. Probably one more drawing done, too. School books come soon. I'm oddly excited for school - I feel like Junior year is going to be the best yet, academically and socially. I've started preparing already, and I feel unusually prepared and ready for school. Victory is mine. :)

Then on Sunday I'm seeing The Time Traveler's Wife with Taylor. Yay, movies! I can't wait for two main reasons - 1, I haven't seen her since January. 2, I LOVE RACHEL MCADAMS. She's an amazing, absolutely gorgeous actress. I don't know what it is about her - she's just so natural, shy, and so happy and full of life all at the same time. And graceful. How could I forget graceful? :)

Look at this beauty. How lovely is she?

Then Taylor and I are going somewhere (god only knows where) and swapping writings. So...crap, I need to write. Panic, anyone? That's my goal for today, at work. Writing. I should be doing other things, but I have nothing else to do besides answer phones. So writing it is.

Happy Friday, everyone!
